In the end, the data is only as good as the input. Therefore, we
ensure the quality of the input by reviewing answer patterns for
signs that respondents may have been completing the survey simply
for the incentive. We examine factors such as total time
spent on the survey, straight-lining of answers, inconsistent or
contradictory responses at different points in the survey,
incomplete or nonsensical open end responses, etc. We delete data
from respondents who are clearly not playing by the rules and
responding in good faith. We feel that through these efforts, the
end result is based on sound data from legitimate respondents.
